The creative process

1. Let's meet

The best way for me to quickly understand your design and/or photographic needs is to meet up and have a good old-fashioned chat. I’m happy to travel to you, meet in Bath or alternatively organize a Skype call to chat face to face. During our meeting, I’ll look to tell you a little more about how I work, ascertain your requirements and discuss how I see the project progressing. I’ll also look to provide a realistic estimate on budget and time scales all with no obligation to proceed.

2. Initial ideas

Once you’re happy for me to proceed, it’s time to let my imagination flow. I’ll quickly start brainstorming ideas, put a mood board together and sketch out some concepts. From there, one or two ideas will start to shine that I’ll work up digitally into an initial proposal. This will then be emailed to you as a PDF presentation, usually with 1-2 weeks. We can then either look to meet up to go over things or discuss feedback over the phone, Skype or email – whichever is easiest for you.

3. Develop and create

Upon honing in on a chosen idea, I’ll then look to develop into a finished proposal. This will be issued to you for sign-off before I start work on creating your final result. For printed items, this will include receiving proofs, selecting paper types and preparing artwork for press. For websites, the final code will be authored and a test link sent to you for review. In the case of photographic shoots, it’ll be time to get the camera out and memory cards loaded.

4. Show the world

The bit we’ve all been waiting for and the part of the job I love most. Seeing the reaction of my clients and this of others is what makes me smile. The design and photographic process is a journey that we’ll travel together and there’s nothing quite like logging onto your new website or standing outside your new shop front with an image looking back at you that reflects your brand perfectly.

My rates

Upon meeting for the first time, I’ll have a pretty good idea of a ball-park figure and will be happy to discuss this openly with you for budgeting. Transparency is essential to ensure a good working relationship and I calculate me fees on an hourly rate of £40 per hour. This applies to both my design and photographic work. As I work, I keep a dedicated time sheet for each client and always let you know upfront how much time I expect to take on a job. Should you wish to agree a set price for a job I’ll be more than happy to do so. As a UK registered sole trader, I’m not VAT registered but some of my suppliers may be subject to VAT.

Please get in touch on 07538 075784 or via email to discuss your project. I look forward to hearing from you.
