Early this month I was approached by Hayley Wyatt, manager of Bath based student letting agency DSTJ Property, who required their portfolio of 16 student properties photographing for their online marketing purposes.
With new student accommodation in Bath being almost continually built, DSTJ Property understood the need for a professional property photographer to capture their portfolio in the very best light. I was delighted to receive the call and last Wednesday we shot the first 3 properties in their portfolio. These featured a 2 bedroom top floor flat and then a 5 and 6 bedroom house, all located in Oldfield Park, Bath.
When shooting images for student or non-luxury properties, the budget often doesn’t allow for an interior designer to dress the property or for extensive post-production work to be carried out (see examples of my luxury shoots here). However, that still doesn’t mean that the properties can’t be given a bit of TLC and so before the shoot I requested DSTJ have the properties cleaned. On the day of the photoshoot, I then asked Hayley to bring with her some small props such as flowers, vases, ornaments and a clean set of bedding and pillows/cushions. By quickly dressing each room (spending only 5-10 minutes doing so), it makes all the difference in bringing a fairly plain room to life.
Each property was photographed over a period of 1-2 hours and minimal post processing was used to keep within DSTJ’s budget. The following shots are a few examples from day 1 of the shoot with the remaining properties scheduled for this coming weekend and next week. Hayley Wyatt was delighted with the initial results commenting,
“WOW AMAZING!! All I can say is wow they are fabulous.”
