Heli Blast image published by National Geographic

8 June 2016 | Photography, Press Cuttings | by Philip Field

Having returned from the most amazing snowboard adventure in Greenland, I’ve been adding quite a few of my shots onto my National Geographic Your Shot page. One of the great things about Nat Geo’s website over other popular sites like Instagram and Facebook is that you stand the chance of an editor spotting one of your shots and it being published. And that is exactly what happened today when my Heli Blast shot was picked up by Matt Adams (Assistant Photo Editor for National Geographic) and featured on today’s Daily Dozen‘.

Matt Adams’s stated,

“This image just screams adventure. Great idea to get low on the composition here and I love where you placed your subject in this image with the helicopter. Great image!”

Each an every day, National Geographic editors scan through the millions of images added to their Your Shot site. To be selected in their top 12 images of the day is a real honour. This is the 7th occasion that I’ve been published by National Geographic and the feeling when you receive the email from them is always the same – elation!
