Swimwear photoshoot for Petal & Ray

27 February 2020

To coincide with their spring 2020 product launch , I was approached by ethical swimwear brand Petal & Ray who required a commercial e-commerce photoshoot to capture their new swimwear range. The images were to be used on their petalandray.com website with multiple shots of each product required.

As an ethical brand, Petal & Ray like to do things a little different from the masses and this flowed back directly into their shoot styling. To bring warmth to their images and to avoid the ‘industry standard white background’, an oyster coloured backdrop was selected to shoot against. This backdrop will be used for all future shoots to create an on-going identity to Petal & Ray’s images and complimented their range of products.

Taken over 1 full day including setup of a mobile photographic studio at Petal & Ray’s premises, a total of 13 different swimsuits were captured along with 13 hats and 3 bags. For the majority of listings, approximately 5-6 shots were captured to show varying angles and details, bringing a total shot count to 180 images that were subsequently used by Petal & Ray on their website.
